Primary Guidelines
Prep to Year 6 Transition Learning Activities
The School will provide learning activities and experiences for Prep to Year 10 students to help transition from an extended holiday into normal schooling. These materials will be available online from Monday 31 January and are entirely voluntary. We are conscious the extended break may cause some students to struggle to get back into the rhythms of schooling and as such may benefit from engaging with learning earlier. If coming onto the School premises, please use the Check in QLD QR Code located at both the Lower Primary and Lohse Centre entrances, and follow mask-wearing guidelines as outlined by the Queensland Government.
Supervision of Students
The School will provide supervision for vulnerable students and students of essential workers from Prep to Year 6 as needed over the weeks Monday 24 January to Friday 4 February. Please note, this is supervision, not normal timetabled lessons. Please refer below for the details of this supervision. Students may wear an appropriate casual standard of dress with enclosed shoes rather than the school uniform.
The Turtle Cafe will be available and orders can be placed via Flexischools. The Learning Hub will be open as normal from 7.45am to 8.30am and from 3:00pm to 4.45pm Monday to Thursday and 4.30pm on Friday.

Preparing for your online class instruction
- Understand that attendance is expected each day and a roll will be taken each morning.
- If you are unwell, or will be late to your learning on that day, please let the School know through the normal channels - Mum or Dad will need to do this for you.
- If online live video conferencing, please refer to the Protocols for Video Conferencing (Zoom and/or Google Hangouts Meet).
- We encourage you to eat, hydrate and visit the toilet before your learning sessions and during usual assigned breaks. You may have a water bottle nearby if necessary.
Before the online class instructions begins
- Prepare your work space in the main area of your home (not your bedroom).
- Sit on a comfortable chair and ensure you have a quiet space with no or minimal background noise (no background music, ensure the TV is turned off).
- Ensure all necessary workbooks, pens, writing books, calculator and other necessary resources are nearby.
- Check your timetable.
- When it is time, join the meeting and wait to follow teacher instructions from your teacher - this could be done with your parents.
When online class instruction begins:
- Your teacher will mark the roll at the start of the day.
- Your teacher will do a roll call, prayer for the day and cover expectations for that day’s learning.
- Refer to Video Conferencing Protocols if live online.
During the online class instruction:
- Respect your teacher and your classmates always through appropriate behaviour.
- Adhere to the same standards and expectations of behaviour online that you follow in your normal classes.
- Hang up when the video conference is over.
- Refer to Video Conferencing Protocols if live online.
After teacher instruction concludes:
- You should continue with teacher set tasks.
- Refer to Seesaw or Google Classroom for tasks and resources.
- Please be mindful when sending messages, that a certain level of troubleshooting will be expected at home before asking the teacher for academic assistance. It is not like a normal classroom where lots of questions can be answered quickly to a group of you as you are all learning individually.
